Driving from Sea-Tac Airport
Click the thumbnails at right for a larger view. For GPS or on-line maps, the ZIP Code for Oak Harbor is "98277" and for NAS Whidbey Island it is "98278".
Depart Sea-Tac Airport, staying to the right side of the parkway and follow signs to SR-518 (Seattle/Tacoma/I-5/I-405). Once on the ramp for SR-518, move to left lane and in 1.4 miles exit on ramp for I-5 NORTH to Seattle. Continue north on I-5 for 80 miles to reach Exit 230 in Burlington. Take Exit 230, follow the off-ramp to the signal and turn left onto SR-20 WEST. Drive on SR-20 WEST heading toward Anacortes. In about 11.7 miles you will go over a bridge and pass a casino on your right. A few more traffic lights and you'll come to a signal-controlled intersection with a sign indicating Oak Harbor is a left turn.... get into the left turn lane to get on SR-20 SOUTH headed for Whidbey Island and Oak Harbor. You have another 13 miles to go. You'll soon pass through Deception Pass State Park (you may want to take a short detour for some sightseeing or photos).
Continue SR-20 SOUTH to Ault Field Road, a signal-controlled T-intersection with an A-6E Intruder & EA-6B Prowler on display. Turn right (a sign points the way the way to NAS Whidbey Island). Continue on Ault Field Road to the second signal (about 1.9 miles) to Langley Ave. Turn right onto Langley Ave. and proceed down the hill to the Main gate and the Pass & Decal Office.
[For the more adventuresome, there is also a Washington State Ferry that runs from Mukileo to Clinton.]
Show the sentry your Military ID Card or Common Access Card, along with the car rental papers; no vehicle pass required. If you do not have a Military ID or CAC, inform the sentry you are with the EW Symposium so your name can be found on the listings at each gate.
